Fun with Presents!

Greg teaching Laurel how to shoot a BB gun*: Laurel's first shot -- she's a natural: * This is Greg's BB gun. Not Laurel's. What kind of parents do you think we are , anyway? And yes, she's wearing pajamas and shooting a BB gun. We're in Jefferson County. What?...

A BoneBlog Family Christmas, in Review.

Sunday, December 24: Ethan poos everywhere while recovering from the stomach flu. I wash the sheets from his crib 3 times in 1 day. Visit with Andy & Becky; leave early because Ethan is still feeling poorly. I wake up at 11:30 p.m. and rush to the bathroom for round 1 of my own bout with the stomach...

Spoonman.

He aims: He shoots: He scores: I had put this milestone off mainly due to laziness. I didn't want to clean up the mess. But Ethan surprised me with his spooning abilities! I'll just have to stock up on cleaning supplies and let him practice. In other news, we had the 15-month doctor visit today...

The Best Part of the Whole Musical.

So, Laurel and another boy, who is standing next to her during the concert, kind of like each other. She told me last week that her crush on this boy grows bigger and bigger every day. So check out what she does in this video. Even more fun? His reaction -- it doesn't even faze him. Why? Because...

Holiday Musical Funtime!

We attended Laurel's school musical last night.  It was a lot of fun.  The kids sang several holiday songs and then performed 'Elfis,' a play about an elf who is an elf impersonator.  Very cute.  Here are some video highlights:

On Living with a Budding Writer.

Laurel has homework every day based on 'high frequency words' -- words which don't follow the rules of phonics and must be memorized. After reading and spelling all the words for me (piece of cake), she has to come up with sentences using some or all of the words, underlining them as they're...

Family Outing to the Tree Farm.

We got our Christmas tree today. We're purists and we like to have a real tree, so we went to Meert Tree Farm just south of Festus, as we do every year. Ethan didn't freak out about the tractor ride, as you can see: We found a winner: Tragedy struck. Ethan fell on his cup and cut his eyelid ...

Little Things That Make It All Worthwhile.

Laurel's one of those kids who sometimes surprises us with the depth of her feelings, because she doesn't always express them aloud to us. Today I was opening the refrigerator door and was surprised by this: And that, to me, is worth more than all the money in the world. P. S. - is she the next...

Laurel-isms, Part VI or: That Kid Knows Too Much About Oompa-Loompas.

Greg:  (giving Laurel a piece of candy) "This is Tongue-Coloring Fizzy Candy"

Laurel:  "Sounds like a Wonka product."

Score! A Decent Driver License Photo!

No, that's not a typo. In Missouri it is a 'Driver License' not a 'Driver's License.' Just look at it, you'll see! Today I got to exchange pleasantries with the ever-cheerful staff at our local contract Motor Vehicle office. Before leaving, because I'm a good little lamb...
