Our Town.

This weekend, Greg and I played tourists in our own town in celebration of our anniversary.  Too often, we neglect our own city in favor of vacationing in others.  We decided to reverse that trend and visit some of what St. Louis has to offer.  The criteria were simple:  Try to only visit places we've never been -- at least, not together; and try to find the best of everything.

Me [pointing]:  "Just over there beyond those trees, is a house where your Grandma R. used to live.  Your grandfather built it."

Easter, 3 Days Later.

Just like Jesus, I waited 3 days to post about Easter.  Go figure.

Busy Week and Small Annoyances.

Last night: Community forums regarding what the school district is going to do about overcrowding. Talk about moving schools and building schools. We want to move into the district, but don't know where to move and everything is up in the air. Will have to keep following meetings to find out where we...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The fact is, it would be far too difficult for me to top last year's video for St. Patrick's Day. So please, sit back and enjoy an encore presentation of Ethan's heartfelt Irish jig atop the table:...

Another Sculptor.

I think Laurel is a pretty darned good sculptor.  Some of her creations have been featured in this blog.  She's wild for Model Magic.

Our New Sentry.

Every day when I'm off running the kids to school, before Greg goes downstairs to work, he guards the couch against Vinnie.

A Few Moments with an Author.

Last Thursday evening, Laurel had the opportunity to meet Mike Thaler, the author of the popular "_________ from the Black Lagoon" children's books.  He also created the Letterman of PBS fame.  I remember Letterman well.

I've Created Monsters.

I don't typically make big fancy breakfasts for my kids. In fact, Greg usually ends up throwing something together for them, whether it be a bowl of microwaved instant oatmeal toast slathered with peanut butter and honey. But last week, Greg had to leave the house really early one morning, so it was...

Well-Acquainted With the Nurse.

Ethan is quite fond of the nurse at his preschool.  It seems he is quite well-acquainted with her, because he talks about the nurse most days as we pass her office.  It makes me wonder just how many times he's paid her a visit.  Both of my kids seem to really enjoy a visit to the school nurse -- Laurel had a period of time in Kindergarten when it seemed she was there every day for social purposes.

The Calm Before the Storm.

As I type this, it is 75 degrees outside.  Tomorrow we're expecting rain and freezing temperatures all day, followed by snow.  HOORAY, because I haven't had enough of this craptastic winter yet!
