Laurel has almost completed the Seven Hooks in the Missouri Department of Conservation's Go Fish! program.
On Thursday evening, she learned about species-specific fishing for largemouth bass. She caught the biggest fish of everyone there:
On Saturday morning, she learned about cleaning and cooking your catch, and received her t-shirt. In September, she'll attend the grand finale about ecology and get a rod and reel, bringing her rod and reel count to 2.
The instructors have told Greg that Laurel has all the marks of a real angler, as opposed to some of the kids with no patience or skill for it. It's good to know that we can count on Laurel to feed us if all the lower-on-the-chain land animals suddenly go extinct. Go, Laurel!
