Pride.
For more than a year, Laurel has been enduring her hair.
She's been growing it since around June or July of 2007 with the goal of donating it to Locks of Love, a charitable organization devoted to making hairpieces of donated hair for financially disadvantaged children suffering from medical conditions or treatments causing prolonged loss of hair.
Laurel has fought with the tangles and has cried in frustration, but never, not once in the entire time did she ask to go ahead and cut it. She needed 10 inches of hair, and she was passionate about her cause, so despite the aggravation long hair causes, she held strong.
And then in less than an hour last Friday, Laurel went from this...
To this:
Laurel loves her new haircut, and I love it, too.
More importantly, she made a change in someone's life. Someone she will never meet will benefit from her work.
And that's a reason to be proud.
