Seven Days and Counting.
Seven days until we leave for vacation. As anyone who knows me might imagine, I’m freaking out because I haven’t planned, haven’t planned, oh no, whatever will we do if we roll into a destination with NO PLANS?! And what if we don’t have the RIGHT plans?! What if we find out we missed out on The Best Restaurant because of my failure?
Yeah, it’s a pleasure to live with me.
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. Any parent who has run themselves crazy through the last few weeks of school can understand. Laurel had one thing after another, and of course she was leaving elementary school so in an effort to cheapen all future milestones, we have to have fifteen farewell ceremonies for the fifth grade students.
And we wonder why we can’t please our children?
I figured it’s time to slap something up here so nobody thinks I’m sitting around eating bonbons all day. So, here' goes:
Laurel is still working on Stanford EPGY’s 7th Grade Pre-Algebra Course…here’s Greg teaching her some concept or other:
Ethan, meanwhile, is working on the whole reading thing:
I took Ethan to the zoo…
…and Laurel received a few academic awards.
Side note: The gym was full of kids, all sitting in the bleachers, and they worked their way down to the floor as their names were called. As you can imagine, it was pretty chaotic, EXCEPT for the kids in Laurel’s class. True to form, they had figured out that they should jump off the end of the bleachers, go up and get their award, then while walking back the rest of the class would all move down one seat so the award recipient could take his/her place at the end of the line.
I don’t know if the kids did that on their own or if the teacher did it, but either way, THANK YOU.
Ethan constructed tracks for his cars by himself:
He also filthed himself up at soccer. Photos really don’t do it justice:
And he slept until 9 one morning, until I got worried about him and went in to wake him.
Meanwhile, I see I’m going to have to get Laurel to stop being so elusive and tucking herself away in her room, because I don’t get enough photos of her.
So there you have it. Typical suburban life with kids. Voila.
