Aggravation.

In the past two weeks we've had businesses feed us the following bullshit:

  1. After taking the Malibu back to the tire shop to have them fix the slow leaks in 3/4 of our tires:  "We'll try, but you might just need new rims."  I'm newly ticked off about this today, and I'm looking for a fight.  Maybe just for grins I'll take the car back up there and point out to them that a 5-year old car most decidedly does not need new rims; especially not multiple rims, and maybe they need to check out the quality of their tires or, I don't know, their mechanics' competence;
  2. After taking the Malibu to the local auto repair shop for AC repair:  "We couldn't find the leak for the $29.95 price; now we need to charge you $150 to find the leak."  Then, later:  "Wow, as soon as we recharged it and injected dye for the $150, the leak was just obvious."  Then even later (after refusing to pay $600 for the repair when the part they wanted to put on was $70 at the local auto store) when Greg checked for the dye at home, he couldn't find any evidence that any dye was even put in the damn thing to begin with -- leading us to believe they could've found the leak for $29.95.  Either that or they need to refer to #1, under the bit about mechanics' competence;
  3. After purchasing a friggin' expensive piece of equipment at Sears and then getting it all the way home and opening the crate, we were missing all documentation and a bag of bolts so the thing couldn't be used.  I called Sears and of course couldn't get anybody on the phone who knew anything.  I had to leave a message.  They did call back, though they didn't have another piece of the equipment to rob, so they had to give me a bag of bolts from a similar model (which was missing a nut) and order the owners manual.  Could they tell me how long it would be until we had the manual?  No.  Of course they couldn't.

We really need to find new businesses to patronize.  Otherwise I'll end up being arrested.  But hey, it'd be something I haven't done before!

Obviously #1 and #2 were not missing a nut!
